My mother would've hated this movie.THIS JUST IN...I saw this film at one o'clock in the afternoon on a cold day in Nashville. Why 1:00 on a Thursday, you ask? Because that is the only option that MoviePass allows me to possibly use their service. But whatever, I finally got this one in. I was considering skipping it altogether, but as it's nominated for Best Picture, I changed my mind.
I read reviews of this movie before attending, mostly to see what all the hype was about. The reviews had me genuinely believing that I was about to watch a soft core high R rated feat. In reality, there were dirtier snide comments almost touching on innuendo. There were moments of implications, as well. But not much that would warrant the reviews that I read.
It was an interesting story that made me want to look into history, as most period pieces do. People will do whatever they can to get ahead is what I got out of this. Using people apparently never goes out of style.
I wonder if this will win Best Picture. It has all of the elements of a great film. The scenery, cinematography, score and acting was on point.
